I believe there are many great ideas for technology ventures walking around our campus every day. Our mix of innovative ideas, technology expertise, and willingness to be entrepreneurs provide a very unique opportunity that we are now extending to our students and faculty. We have already seen several spin-off businesses that started on the DSU campus in the past 3-5 years. Part of the CT@DSU will be providing services for faculty and students that already have an innovative idea. Another service will be to match up faculty that have an idea, but not necessarily the time to act on it, with students that have time, technology skills, and an ambition to be part of a new technology venture.

Our campus is in a very unique position concerning commercialization, because every new venture must have some injection of information technology regardless of its industry. Not only can DSU students and faculty create stand-alone technology companies that provide new and innovative products and services, but we also can provide “stand-along” technology companies that provide vital services to other new and existing companies. This is a niche area that the information technology focus of DSU provides; an area that we are now capitalizing on.

I encourage you to contact me directly with questions and comments regarding the CT@DSU. It is our goal to spread the work about the Center to all of our alumni, private and corporate partners, and future students as we feel it’s a great opportunity for the DSU community!

Respectfully,
‘JP
